What Senior Care Intel covers, and how facts are labelled

Counts on this page are read from the database when it loads. Senior Care Intel holds public data only: CMS files, the NPI Registry and contacts researched from public sources.

Sources

The full source register lists every source with its rights, refresh date and live record count.

Status definitions

Source verified

The value matches the original record from the named source. When one authoritative source is the best available evidence, the panel says “single authoritative source”.

Independently corroborated

A second source that does not copy the first confirms the value. Syndicated copies of the same record do not count.

Needs review

Sources conflict, or an identity match is uncertain. The record goes to review instead of a value being picked silently.

Stale

Older than the threshold for its source. Today: an inspection CMS flags as more than 2 years old, or a cost report whose period ended more than 24 months ago. Stale is not the same as incorrect.

Unavailable

No appropriate source exists. Examples: current occupancy, collected rents and contract terms.

How records are checked: three gates

A record earns a status by passing defined checks. There is no blanket “verified” badge, and repeated passes over the same source do not count as independent checks.

GateWhat it checksToday
1. Identity and provenanceThe right facility, license, operating entity, owner and person. Source IDs and original records are kept; similarly named organizations, former operators and parent companies are kept apart.Included Each home is keyed by its CMS certification number, and ownership entries keep their filing dates.
2. Corroboration and conflictsMaterial claims checked against a second, independent source when one exists. Syndicated copies do not count. Unresolved conflicts go to review.Included Contacts are marked confirmed by two sources, single source or conflicting. CMS facts come from one authoritative source each.
3. Freshness and consistencyReporting periods, revisions, units, capacity ranges, duplicates and stale thresholds per source. The reporting period and the date retrieved are kept separate.Included Stale flags for old inspections and cost reports, and reporting periods shown on financials.

Coverage and freshness are shown as counts and dates.

Notes on the data

Assisted living and memory care are licensed by states, not CMS. They come from state licence lists: NY and PA today, more states added regularly.

A campus can hold several licenses. CMS numbers identify the nursing-home certification only. Campuses are not grouped.

Ownership filings can lag a sale, and a person on a filing is not evidence of current authority to buy or sell.

Cost reports are filed by the homes and are not audited by CMS. Every figure shows its reporting period.

Homes by state

Skilled nursing facilities in all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico and Guam.
